Off Ice Hockey

Privacy Policy

What we collect, why, and what we never do with it.

The short version

Your Player's Training Stays On Your Device

The app collects nothing. Off Ice Hockey does not collect data from your phone, tablet or computer, or from the app itself. Training records, shot counts, journals, personal bests, levels and badges are stored only on the device the player uses. We never see them.
The only information we collect is on the sign-up form. When you sign the participation agreement, we keep what you enter there, and nothing else.
We do not sell or share personal information. We do not sell, rent, trade or share your information with anyone for their own use, and we never will. There is no advertising, no analytics and no tracking in the app or on this website.

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Off Ice Hockey (“we”, “us”) handles personal information in connection with the Off Ice Hockey training program, the app and this website. We are based in Ontario, Canada, and handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. Information we collect

We collect personal information only through the sign-up form, when a parent or legal guardian signs the participation agreement. That form collects:

the participant's name and age group;
the parent or guardian's name, relationship to the participant, and email address;
optionally, a telephone number and a team name;
the signature, the date entered on the form, the participant's acknowledgement, and the time we received the form.

We do not ask for, and do not want, any medical information. The form has no place for it.

2. What the app does not collect

The app does not collect or send any personal information, training data, usage statistics, location or device identifiers. It has no accounts, no cookies used for tracking, no analytics and no advertising. Everything a player records is kept in the browser storage of their own device.

The app contacts our server for one purpose: to unlock a program with an access code and to check that the code is still valid and whether a newer version is available. That request carries the access code only. We keep a count of how many times each code has been used, so that we can manage licences; we do not record who used it or on which device.

3. Reporting a problem

The app's Settings has a “Report a problem” button. Nothing is sent automatically. Tapping it opens an email to us in your own email app, filled in with details that help us fix the problem: the app's version, the age group and week the player is on, and the last error the app met, if any. It includes nothing about your device, no training records and no personal details beyond what you choose to write. You can read and change the email before sending it, or not send it at all. If you send it, we use it only to answer you and to fix the problem.

4. How we use your information

We use the information on the sign-up form to:

set up your licence and send you the access code and setup guide;
keep a record of the signed participation agreement;
contact you about your licence, or about material changes to the program or its terms;
answer your questions and any problem reports you send us.

We do not use it for marketing, and we do not use it for any purpose you have not been told about.

5. Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, trade or share personal information. We do not give it to advertisers, sponsors, teams, leagues or data brokers. The only other parties that handle it are the service providers that run our website, store the sign-up records and deliver our email. They act on our behalf, only for that purpose, and are bound to keep it confidential and secure. We would disclose information otherwise only if the law required us to.

6. Children

The program is for players under eighteen, and only a parent or legal guardian can sign up. We do not create accounts for children and do not collect information from them. The participant's name and age group come from the parent or guardian on the sign-up form. A player's training records never leave their device unless the family chooses to share a progress report or export a backup, and then they go only where the family sends them.

7. How long we keep it, and how we protect it

We keep sign-up information for as long as your licence is active, and after that for as long as we need a record of the signed agreement, after which it is deleted. It is stored with our hosting provider, which may process it outside Canada, in systems that are access-controlled and encrypted in transit. Only the people who administer licences can see it.

8. Information on your device

Because a player's records are stored on their device, you control them completely. Removing a player in the app, or clearing the browser's data for this website, deletes them. Backup files you export belong to you, and we never receive them.

9. Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent and ask us to delete it, except where we must keep a record of the signed agreement. Email us and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update this page and tell you by email before the change takes effect.
